Pottery, Wherever You Are: Introducing Creative Hour - Your Weekly Online Clay Class
If you’ve been craving more creativity in your week - but can’t always make it into the studio - we have exciting news.
We’re thrilled to launch Creative Hour, our brand new live online pottery classes, running every Wednesday evening from the comfort of your home. It’s a chance to get your hands into clay, switch off from the world, and enjoy the calming joy of hand-building - wherever you are.
Whether you're a total beginner or a seasoned maker, you're invited.
Why Pottery? Why Now?
Pottery is more than just a hobby. It’s a grounding, mindful practice that helps you slow down and reconnect - with your hands, your creativity, and the present moment.
And now, you don’t have to leave your home to experience it.
Each Creative Hour session offers a gentle, guided project you can follow at your own pace. From sculpted vases to pinch pots, candle holders to textured trays, you’ll build something beautiful with just a lump of clay and a little curiosity.
Best of all? You don’t need a wheel, kiln, or fancy studio space. Just a kitchen table and a sense of adventure.
Designed for Real Life (and Real People)
We know how busy life can be. That’s why each session is designed to be:
Stand-alone: You can dip in and out - no pressure to attend every week.
Flexible: Book a single class or save with a 6-week block.
Beginner-friendly: Step-by-step demos mean you’ll never feel lost.
Inspiring for improvers: Explore new techniques and forms each week.
Live & Interactive: Ask questions, get tips, and create alongside others.
Whether you're joining us from Sussex, Scotland, or Sweden - you're part of our growing clay community.
What Will You Make?
Every week, we focus on a different theme or technique. A typical 6-week cycle includes:
Week 1 – Pinching: From a ball of clay to a candle holder or small bowl
Week 2 – Coiling: Create organic, expressive forms like vases or planters
Week 3 – Slab Building: Construct trays, mugs, or structured boxes
Week 4 – Sculpting: Add texture, handles, and personality
Week 5 – Mixed Techniques: Blend methods and explore new forms
Week 6 – Finishing & Surface Design: Add texture, carvings, or colour
Each project is designed to fit easily into a one-hour creative session (plus a bit of drying time later!). And don’t worry - we’ll send you a handy materials list after booking, so you’ll know exactly what to gather.
Why Pottery at Home?
Aside from not needing to leave the house (pyjamas and tea encouraged), online pottery has some surprising benefits:
Builds creative confidence in your own space
Reduces stress and anxiety through tactile play
Encourages experimentation without fear of getting it wrong
Connects you with a wider community of makers from all over
It’s also a brilliant, low-cost way to try something new in January, when many of us are looking for mood-boosting, screen-free ways to unwind.
Join Us from Anywhere
Our first block of sessions begins Wednesday 21st January 2026, and we’d love for you to be part of it.
Each session is just £15 and runs live on Zoom at 8pm (UK time).
