Chisel Pottery was founded by Kinga Amielucha, who began her journey into pottery at just 13 years old in a small village in Poland, Kinga introduced to clay by a local artist and was encouraged to get creative and enjoy the process of making with it. Thatโ€™s where the idea of Chisel Pottery was bornโ€ฆ

Meet the Team

  • Kinga Amielucha

    POTTERY TEACHER

I love teaching pottery and find it incredibly rewarding to support others in discovering the joy of working with clay. My background is in Fine Art Sculpture (MA), which shapes my approach to form and texture. Iโ€™m especially interested in the balance between function and creativity, and I enjoy helping students explore that in their own way. Teaching is at the heart of my practice โ€“ playful, hands-on, and always evolving.

I started Chisel Pottery as a way to bring people together through clay โ€“ to create a space thatโ€™s welcoming, creative, and rooted in community. I wanted to share the joy that comes from working with your hands, and to make ceramics accessible to anyone curious to give it a go.

  • Sian Van Driel

    POTTERY TEACHER

Sian, from an early age, has enjoyed and explored the vast possibilities clay has to offer โ€“ from an inspiring pottery teacher at school to studying at West Surrey College of Art and Design (UCA, Farnham). Her training included a broad range of ceramic techniques and a deep exploration of earth materials. Sian has taught in schools, colleges, and privately over the years, and loves to share her knowledge and inspire her students. She continues to explore clay and other mediums in her own practice, exhibiting both nationally and internationally.

  • Dawn

    POTTERY ASSISTANT

Always ready with a smile and a helpful hand, Dawn is the friendly face supporting our classes behind the scenes. From helping you get set up to cheering you on at the wheel, she helps keep the studio running smoothly โ€“ and always bring great energy!

โ€œIt is my mission to inspire creativity, wellbeing and foster a love for pottery through hands-on and fun classes for all skill levels.โ€

 FAQs

  • Yes - our workshops, classes and experiences are open to all skill levels. We have potters of all abilities in our community, from complete beginners to seasoned professionals!

  • We recommend beginning with one of our one-off hand-building or throwing on the wheel taster workshops.

There are two main techniques to explore: hand modeling and throwing on the wheel.

For throwing on the wheel, you can choose from:
    - Taster Throwing (2hrs)
    - Day of Clay (5hrs)

For hand modeling, we offer one-off hand-building workshops where you can create specific items such as a chessboard set, serving platter set, nesting bowls, or a jewellery dish.

All of these introductory workshops provide a solid foundation in pottery making and offer you something beautiful to take home and cherish forever.

  • All materials, clay, apron and firings for the one off taster classes is provided.

  • Your pottery will be fired and glazed within six weeks. You can arrange with us to either come and collect it or have it posted to you.

  • A booking is not confirmed until it has been purchased through the Chisel Pottery website or payment has been received via an alternative agreed payment method.

    All bookings are non-refundable.

  • In the event of unforeseen circumstances, bookings can be rescheduled to a new date within 6 months of the original booking date if notice is given 7 days prior to original booking date. Rescheduling a booking will incur a ยฃ50 admin fee per each ticket purchased.

If you are unable to attend a session in a course block then no refund will be given for that session; if possible, we will give you the option to replace the missed session on an alternative date but this is reliant on space availability.
