Chisel Pottery – Membership Terms

1. What’s included (per 8-week term)

Each member can make 5–6 finished pieces per term. Typical size is up to 15cm tall and 15cm wide. If you’re unsure, please ask before starting — we’re always happy to guide you.

Big pieces or extended builds (taking 4+ weeks on shelves or exceeding size limits) may count as multiple pieces or incur a surcharge. We’ll always confirm this with you in advance.

You’re welcome to make additional pieces beyond your allowance - extra firings are £1.50 per piece (bisque or glaze).

Re-glazing is available at £1.50 per 100g of piece weight. This includes prep and one additional glaze firing.

2. Glazes

Members have access to all studio glazes. If you’d like to use your own glazes, you’re very welcome to, but please check with your tutor first to ensure compatibility with our clay and firing temperatures.

3. Kiln hire (members only)

Kiln hire is available between May and August at £120 for bisque and £120 for glaze. Please message me directly for more details.

4. Membership perks

Members receive 10% off workshop bookings using code: CLAYCIRCLE10.

5. Catch-ups

One catch-up session allowed per 8-week term needs to be used within that same 8-week period, rather than carried over. This must be arranged in advance.

6. Clay policy

All clay used in the studio must be purchased through us. This ensures consistency in firing and protects everyone’s work.

7. Membership commitment

Membership is designed to be consistent and ongoing, which is reflected in the pricing. It is a 12-month commitment. After this period, membership continues on a monthly basis.

To cancel, we require one month’s notice.

8. Aprons

Members are encouraged to bring their own apron. We’ll always have spares, but having your own saves the planet and my washing machine - and you can wear it more than once if it’s yours.
