Adult Weekly Ceramics Classes – 8-Week Course starting January 2026

Beat the winter blues and dive into the world of pottery with our 8-week Adult Ceramics Course! This class is designed to build a solid foundation in ceramics, offering you a chance to explore a range of pottery techniques and unleash your creativity in a welcoming environment.

Over the course of eight weeks, you’ll be guided by our experienced instructor through fundamental techniques, including:

  • Slabbing: Learn to create forms using flat sheets of clay, perfect for building functional and sculptural pieces.

  • Coiling: Master the art of coiling to make larger and more intricate forms, allowing you to craft vases, bowls, and more.

  • Throwing on the Wheel: Experience the meditative process of throwing on the potter's wheel, where you’ll learn centering, shaping, and refining skills.

  • Glazing and Finishing: Explore colour and texture as you finish your pieces with a range of glazes, making each creation truly unique.

Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this course is perfect for those looking to improve their skills and gain a deeper understanding of ceramic art. Each session will focus on hands-on practice and creative expression, encouraging you to develop your own style while working alongside fellow pottery enthusiasts.

  • Week 1 – Let's Get Rolling with The Potter's Wheel: Dive into wheel throwing, focusing on centring, opening and pulling the wall on your pots.

    Week 2 – Perfecting the Art of Perfect Bottoms: Refine your work with turning techniques, enhancing the aesthetics of your pottery.

    Week 3 – Let Your Creativity Shine with Decorative Techniques: Explore slip painting, sgraffito, and handle making, adding personal touches with winter-inspired designs.

    Week 4 – Embrace your hand skills with Slab Technique: Shift to hand-building, creating items like platters and serving bowls that reflect winter themes - we will be using underglaze transfers too!

    Week 5 – Sculpting Your Masterpiece: Learn how to sculpt clay into elegant vessels designed to hold your favourite essential oils or wax melts.

    Week 6 – Adding the Finishing Touch with Glazing: Finish your course by applying glazes that add colour and depth, reflecting the cosy hues of winter.

  • New Skills: Gain proficiency in various pottery techniques, from wheel throwing to glazing.

    Artisan Creations: Produce several pieces that you can use, display, or give as heartfelt gifts.

    Ready for Pickup: You can expect to make 5/6 items per term. Your creations will be ready in four to six weeks.

    Cancellation Policy: Please note that all course bookings are non-refundable. Once your spot is secured, we are unable to offer refunds or transfers to a different course. This policy ensures that we can maintain small group sizes and provide the best possible experience for all participants.

    If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your booking to a friend or family member. Please contact us in advance to arrange this.
