A full-day workshop exploring decorative techniques and surface design.
During the workshop, you’ll design and create two decorative stoneware serving boards before learning a range of surface decoration techniques to bring them to life.
Throughout the day, Sian will demonstrate a selection of professional decorating methods, helping you discover how texture, pattern, colour and mark-making can transform a simple piece of clay into something truly personal.
Techniques may include:
Sgraffito
Slip decoration
Carving and incising
Texture and impressed pattern
Coloured slips
Wax resist
Underglaze decoration
Layering and combining decorative techniques
You’ll leave with two beautifully decorated pieces that will be glazed and fired by us after the workshop.
Perfect for students who are ready to move beyond basic glazing and begin developing their own creative style in clay.
