Why 2027 Could Be the Year You Make More Time for Creativity

When life gets busy, creativity is often one of the first things to disappear from the diary.

We tell ourselves we’ll make time for it when work is quieter, when the Christmas rush is over, or when we have a free weekend - and somehow that free time never quite appears.

So, as we start looking ahead to a new year at Chisel Pottery, we’re making a case for doing things a little differently in 2027.

Instead of waiting to find time to be creative, why not make it part of your routine?

The joy of a regular pottery class

There’s something very different about joining a weekly pottery class compared with squeezing creativity into the occasional spare afternoon.

Having that time already in your diary gives you permission to switch off from everything else for a couple of hours and focus on what’s in front of you: the clay, the piece you’re working on and what you want to make next.

You don’t need to arrive bursting with ideas, and you certainly don’t need to be an experienced potter.

Our regular pottery classes in Chichester are designed to give you the space and support to develop at your own pace. You can learn new techniques, build your confidence and gradually start tackling projects you might never have imagined making when you first walked through the studio doors.

And, importantly, there’s no pressure to be perfect.

Meet Carla, our newest Chisel teacher

As we head towards 2027, we’re also very excited to welcome Carla to the Chisel teaching team.

Carla is teaching our Wednesday classes in Chichester, helping members explore their ideas, develop their pottery skills and enjoy everything that comes with spending regular time in the studio.

One of our favourite things about Chisel is seeing how differently everyone approaches clay. Two people can be shown exactly the same technique and create completely different pieces - and having our teachers there to encourage that individuality is a huge part of the experience.

We can’t wait for more of you to meet Carla in the new year.

Find a class that works around you

Making creativity a habit also needs to work with real life.

Alongside our Wednesday sessions, we have our Friday 2-4pm pottery classes in Chichester - a particularly lovely way to finish the week.

It’s two hours where your phone can stay in your bag, the to-do list can wait and your only real decision might be whether your latest piece needs another handle, a little more height or a completely different glaze.

Bliss.

Start your 2027 with something to look forward to

New Year’s resolutions don’t always need to be about doing more, achieving more or pushing yourself harder.

Perhaps yours can simply be about making more room for something you enjoy.

Our 2027 pottery classes in Chichester are now available to book, including Carla’s Wednesday classes.

So, if you’ve been thinking about learning pottery, returning to something creative or simply finding a hobby that gets you away from a screen for a few hours each week, this could be your sign.

We’ll save you a seat at the table - and plenty of clay.

Explore our Chichester pottery classes and book your 2027 sessions.
